A POP OF COLOUR ON THE LIDS FOR S/S 2014
For all the looks below I wore my MAYBELLINE Dream Pure BB Cream (RSP R99.95) I LOVE this BB Cream! It gives me a semi-matte, flawless finish and only a little bit is needed. I would say the cover is medium to full. It definitely evens out my skin-tone, and minimises my pores. It contains the maximum 2% Salicylic Acid to fight blemishes. It is recommended for Oily skin. I have combination skin and I have been using everyday!
I used my BOURJOIS 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream (RSP R109.95) under my eyes, over my pigmentation spots and around the corners of my nose. This concealer has also become part of my daily routine. Easy to use, it lasts and it doesn’t crease.
To Highlight my skin I used the SENSAI Silky Highlighting Powder (RSP R780 ) I applied it to the bridge of my nose, cheekbones and a quick sweep all-over my face with a big fluffy brush. This powder gives a beautiful, clean subtle highlight. Perfect for a hint of a healthy glow for the everyday make-up look.
The Blue WashedLid
The most popular colour seen backstage on the lids was Blue.
Eyes: I applied the ALMAY Shadow Softies Eyeshadow in Seafoam (RSP R55.00) from the lash-line all the way into the crease. Then with my REVLON Colorstay ShadowLinks eyeshadow in Periwinkle (RSP R49.95), which is a darker blue, I applied this to the outer corners of my eyes.
Lashes: For Big Full lashes I used my RIMMEL ScandalEyes Retro Glam mascara (RSP R109.95) Build this mascara to achieve glamorous full lashes!
Lips: For the lips I opted for a sheer peach gloss from SMASHBOX (RSP R250.00)
The Purple Washed Lid
For another colour option try purple
Eyes: I used this Eyeshadow Quad from REVLON in Seductive (RSP R175) to create this look. Use the 2nd colour in the palette, the pastel purple and apply it all over the eyelid up to the crease. The using the 3rd colour, the brighter purple, apply this to the outer corners of the eyes.
Lashes: For this purple look I opted for softer flirtier lashes. The JUSTINE Luxe Seduction Mascara (RSP R179) was perfect for this.
Lips: To finish off this look apply your favourite tinted lip balm. My current favourites are the all the colours in the MAYBELLINE Baby Lips Electro range (RSP R29.95) They give just enough of a tint of colour and are super moisturising.
The Green Washed Lid
Not keen on a bright colour on your lids? Then rather go for a soft green
Eyes: Apply the REVLON Colorstay ShadowLinks eyeshadow in Lime (RSP R45.00) to the entire lid up to the crease, and then the ALMAY Shadow Softies Eyeshadow in Moss (RSP R55.00) to the outer corners. For more definition apply a Khaki Green coloured eyepencil!
Lashes: When using a lighter eyeshadow I recommend pimping up the lashes a bit more. Still a firm favourite, LOREAL‘s Volume Million Lashes (RSP R179.95) Mascara is perfect for just that!
Lips: For a defined pink lip I applied my BOURJOIS Shine Edition lipstick in No 24 (RSP R129.95) The Bourjois Shine Edition lipsticks glide on with ease leaving your lips with a beautiful moisturising sheen.
The Copper Washed Lid
If you would like to try out this trend but you are not a fan of colourful lids, then try this look.
Eyes: Simply blend MAC‘s Copper Pigment (RSP R260) all over the lid up to the crease.
Lashes: For Extreme Volume apply 3-4 coats of the MAYBELLINE The Colossal Go Extreme Volum! Mascara (RSP R119.95)
Lips: To complete the look, apply a nude pink lipstick. I have been loving the CATRICE Ultimate Colour lipstick in 240 Hey Nude (RSP R44.95)
Feel free to make all of these your own! Add liner, change-up the lip colours, use brighter or softer colours…the options are endless!
