GET THE LOOK: Flicked Eyeliner and GIVEAWAY!!!

A Get The Look of the Make-up in this Video Below

For the GIVEAWAY be sure to see the video 😉

In this Video I show you 3 Easy ways to get that perfect Flicked Eyeliner! As the focus of this video is on the eyeliner I already had my make-up done. Below I share with you my easy steps to achieving this everyday make-up look.

Primer: I used the amazing Loreal Revitalift Magic Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream (R199) as my primer. This product does exactly what it says: Instantly Blurs Wrinkles, Pores and Imperfections. Don’t apply too much, a thin layer is enough. Too much product will make your make-up move. I found this one especially great on my cheeks where I have enlarged pores, and around my eyes for those pesky fine lines.

Colour Correcting: To help conceal under the eyes and over pigmentation I always encourage a touch of Colour Correcting I used the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Correcting and Highlighting Perfector (R345) in number 3. This Corrector is a thin creamy liquid formula that blends and sets easily without creasing. It comes in a gorgeous metal gold pen that you click to release the product into the brush tip. The pinkish tint of this Corrector is perfect for that blue/purple tint we all find under our eyes.

Foundation: For a hint of tan I went for a shade a touch darker than my skin-tone, making sure to apply a thin layer on my neck and chest. Loreal Infallible 24H Foundation in 140 Golden Beige (R209.95), a beautiful smooth creamy texture that sets to a semi-matte finish. It is easy to apply, long-lasting and gives a flawless medium to full cover. I applied it with a Stippling Foundation Brush from Real Techniques (in the picture below) Personally this foundation is too heavy for me for everyday as I prefer a tinted moisturizer, but for an evening out it is perfect. If you prefer more cover during the day then this one is perfect for you! It also has a lovely Floral perfume!

Concealer:  This Revlon Age Defying Targeted Dark Sport Concealer Treatment in 02 Light Medium (R145) took me by surprise. It is a thick creamy concealer that feels heavy on first application, but once blended it is amazing! It is definitely for those who like a bit of a heavier/fuller cover. It sets to a smooth velvet finish, and although it gives a fuller cover, it doesn’t look heavy at all. I also used this one to highlight on my cheekbones, edge of my nose, forehead and chin. It blended beautifully with the foundation. It has a sponge applicator, but I preferred applying and blending it with me fingers. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it has a slightly sticky finish, so I do recommend setting it with some powder.

Face Powder: I have been using the Justine LUXE Silken Compact Pressed Powder in Light Medium Silk (R239) daily. It is an Ultra-fine powder that creates a soft, silky finish. It can be used on it’s own. I prefer using it as a setting powder after foundation as it gives me just that touch of extra cover, and a gorgeous matte finish. It comes with an applicator sponge that applies a perfect thin layer.

Contour: As mentioned above I used the concealer for highlighting. For a natural contour I used my Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder in 030 Medium (R165) It is also a face powder that can be used on it’s own or to set foundation, I love using this darker shade for a natural contour though. It is a super smooth powder that doesn’t look cakey and orange. I love using the sponge that comes with it to Contour my cheeks, a touch on the side of my nose, my jawline and the sides of my forehead.

Blush: To compliment the orange under-toned lipstick I decided to go for I used this Sleek Blush in 922 Life’s A Peach (R59.95) It looks a touch brighter in the pic than it actually is, but it gives a natural peachy glow to the cheeks. I used a blush brush and applied it very lightly on the apples of my cheeks. For a brighter cheek simply apply some more 🙂 The smooth powder is easy to apply and blend.

Brows: Probably the most important part of make-up, beautifully groomed and shaped brows! I have been loving a lighter brow lately, and this Smashbox Brow Tech palette in Brunette (R240) has been great! With the Brow Brush from MAC in the picture above (you can also use an angle brush) I use the lighter Taupe colour first to fill-in my entire brow. Then using the darker brown shade I define the outer edge of my brows. This gives me definition and a bit of an Ombre brow. The third part you see in this little palette is a brow wax used to set the brows. It doesn’t come with a brush to apply it, so I would recommend using a mascara spooly to brush it onto the brows. Personally I am not a fan. To brush my brows in place and set them I love my MAC Brow Set in Beguile (R190)

Eyeshadow: Using the technique from my Easy Eyeshadow Application Video I started by applying the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour Eyeshadow in 660 Ice White Open (R44.95) all-over my eye-lid, right up to the brow bone. With the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour Quattro Palette in 070 Mud Spencer & Coralle Hill (R74.95) I stuck to the 3 brown shades. First with the lightest soft gold colour I filled in the ball-of-the-eye and also applied it to the bottom lash-line. Then with the medium brown shade I defined the crease, blending it into the crease area only. Lastly using the darkest brown shade, I applied this colour to the outer corners of my eyes on the top and bottom. Be sure to blend it all well!

Eyeliner: The hero product for this look the Loreal Super Liner So Couture (R135.95) In the video I show you step-by-step how to apply the perfect liquid liner. This specific liner is definitely one of favourites! It goes on smooth, the tip stays wet enough throughout your entire application and the thin tip makes it easier to get that perfect definition. It is long-lasting and doesn’t smudge or transfer during the day. I love that it has a slightly glossy finish as apposed to the usual dry matte finish most eyeliner pens have. In one word this liner shouts Elegance!

Eyelash Curler: I got this eyelash curler from Rubybox (R79.95) and have been very impressed with it. It is affordable and it works really well! Most of the affordable eyelash curlers bend the lashes too hard making a hard-line on the lashes, and push them too far up, making your lashes look, well, a bit strange. This eyelash curler curls your lashes into a gentle curve, which is exactly what we are after! Always curl your lashes before applying mascara, and start at the base gently curling your lashes, moving towards the tip in two-to-3 steps.

Mascara: No make-up look is ever complete without mascara! This Loreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara (R179.95) also from the Couture Range is fantastic! The perfect all-in-one mascara. It has a super black, smooth formula that doesn’t flake, and it smells divine! The dense bristles of the brush makes for a very easy application. It separates the lashes coating each hair separately giving fuller, voluminous lashes! This mascara is build-able, so I recommend applying as many coats as necessary until you are happy with the finish.

Lips: The finishing touch! I have received many mixed opinions on this MAC Lipstick in Tangerine Dream (R195) As I said in the video, this is the type of colour that needs to grow on you. I absolutely love it! It is a sheer moisturizing formula finished off with that distinct vanilla MAC lipstick scent. I do think that this colour looks best with a made-up eye, and it is also not a colour for everyone. I can’t wait to use it in shoot!

Nails: Topshop Nails in Totally Turmeric (Approx R80-I got it on sale for R20) I was very excited when I saw this Turmeric, Butternut colour nail polish. Again I think this is a colour that will grow on you! This nail polish lasted 2 days on me, which is pretty good.

To Remove All of this make-up at the end of the day try Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Cleanser (for 250ml R179.95 at Dischem) Fragrance free. It is specifically designed for Sensitive Skin, which means it is super gentle. It is a cleanser and make-up remover in one. Soak a Cotton Pad with the cleanser, and cleanse the face and eyes. It gently removes all make-up (waterproof included) and soothes the skin. The packaging says that you don’t need to rinse it off. Personally I always do, but I think that is just my head stuck in tradition 🙂 I will leave it up to you to decide.

You can off course make this look your own, change-up the eyeshadow colours, do a bright pink lip and a pop of pink blush! With a Flicked Liner the possibilities are endless.
